What is physie?

A Fusion of Dance and Sport

Fun, upbeat, pop music is the soundtrack to a sport that fuses dance styles such as jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, aerobic dance and even yoga! Our innovative choreography changes annually and is designed for maximum variety and fun. Physie (also known as Physical Culture) is the perfect combination of movements designed to increase strength, fitness and flexibility. The benefits for your daughter are increased co-ordination, brain development and confidence. Physie is a synchronised, team-based sport that's social and fun and an excellent low impact dance and aerobic activity.

Why is Physie good for you?

Physie teaches a choreographed syllabus of exercise, dance and fitness routines. We use the latest songs and music. Physie has been taught to Australian children for over a hundred years!

All choreography is designed to develop:

  • strength
  • good posture
  • fitness
  • flexibility
  • balance
  • co-ordination
  • self-discipline

Because the routines are done to music, the children learn the relationship of movement to music, musical interpretation and rhythm.

Other benefits are development of the following skills, which assist with achievement at school:

  • body geography
  • spatial awareness
  • concentration
  • sequencing
  • fine and gross motor skills
  • left/right discrimination
  • listening skills
  • memory
  • teamwork.

Learning physie improves children's confidence, gives them a sense of achievement and helps to build their self-esteem.

And best of all … it's fun!
